Xylitol Update

I went to the dentist yesterday. I had to get two deteriorating silver fillings replaced. It seems that I outlasted them, which is always a good thing!
While I was waiting for the Novocain to take effect, I told my dentist that I was taking Xylitol and asked her if she was familiar with it. She was. She stated that it helped keep the plaque off of the teeth. She mentioned that the down side was that too much could cause a stomach ache. She also said that some people took more than was recommended and that that wasn't a good idea. Taken correctly, she said it was beneficial.
So here is my update on my Xylitol routine: I brush my teeth with Xylitol toothpaste after breakfast and before bed. I have changed to the cinnamon flavored mints because I like the taste better. I leave them out where I can see them, and let them dissolve in my mouth. I probably have 8-10 throughout the day. My grandsons are a big fan of the mint flavored ones, so I keep some of those around for them. I also bought some of the Xylitol gum which I may chew once a week, also a favorite of the grandsons.
I got a UV laser to disinfect my toothbrush. I have fun with it, but the grandkids don't even know I have it. Definitely not a toy for young ones. I use Xylitol instead of sugar, which is when I cook.
Using Xylitol is easy for me, as it's a habit now. I like the way my mouth tastes and feels. In the long run, less plaque means less cavities. I am a fan.
