Start your day with Cinnamon Sunrise

This cooked oat cereal was created so there would be nuts or fruit in every bite.


Ingredients:

1 1/3 cups water

1 tsp. ceylon cinnamon

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 cup oat groats or slow cooking oat meal

1/3 cup dried sweetened tart cherries

1/3 cup chopped walnuts

1 apple diced

granola

culina yogurt


Boil the water, add the cinnamon and salt. When it dissolves add the cherries, oats, walnuts and apples. Keep it boiling as you reduce the heat for 5 mins. When the oats are cooked, place into a bowl and sprinkle granola on top, then add a dollop of yogurt.

Serves: 2

Protein 5.2 grams per serving


Tips: You may need to add more water and put the cherries in early for best flavor. For added protein: sprinkle with the granola, 1 Tbsp. hemp (3 gm) or flax seed (2 gm).
